I recently received a request from a friend, Mr. Fadi Chahine, Managing Director, Regional Press Network (RPN)/
Mr. Chahine asked me to read an article he wrote and comment upon it. The article in question is reproduced below. I have taken the liberty to add, for the attention of the readers. ahead of each basic remark made by the author, my own brief summary. I trust he won't mind. Let me say that Mr. Chami has thoroughly covered the subject dealt with in this report. Let us hope that his appeal will be heard by all concerned and that journalism in the Middle East and more specifically in Lebanon, will serve to bring closer together the citizens and the Authorities, and promote, in our country, the advent of true democracy, true reforms, and true and effective participation of citizens to governance.
